Health effects of spinach

Spinach is one of the healthiest vegetables you can eat. It is full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that contribute to health and protection against disease. It also contains a large amount of fiber, which is important for the proper functioning of the digestive system and maintaining a healthy body mass index. Spinach also contains iron, which is necessary for the formation of red blood cells and the transfer of oxygen to the body. Its high vitamin C content helps increase the absorption of iron from food. Therefore, spinach soup is an excellent way to get these health benefits while enjoying a tasty meal.

Why use fresh spinach in soup?

Using fresh spinach in spinach soup is an essential part of achieving great taste and health benefits. Fresh spinach has a more intense aroma and taste compared to frozen spinach. Its delicate leaves dissolve easily in the soup, creating a smooth and creamy consistency. In addition, fresh spinach contains more nutrients because it has not been subjected to long-term freezing. Therefore, it is always better to use fresh spinach when preparing spinach soup.

The importance of using bread in spinach soup

Bread is an important part of spinach soup. Its brittle crust gives the soup a unique texture and taste. The bread absorbs the juice from the soup and softens its taste, creating a harmonious connection with the fresh spinach. You can use different types of bread, such as French baguettes, rye bread or your favorite garlic bread. It is important to choose bread that goes well with spinach and supports the overall taste experience.

I decided to serve the soup in bread, so I decided on round bread with a thicker crust. I took out the inside of the bread, which I then baked in the oven and served as croutons that were part of this soup. I chose a loaf of bread, but you can also opt for smaller loaves, where you will serve only one smaller piece of bread as a portion.

If you follow these tips and tricks, your spinach soup will be perfect:

Spinach soup in bread

servings: 6 portions
Preparation time: 10 minutes
cooking time: 30 minutes
total time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 350 g fresh spinach
  • 150 g potatoes
  • 50 g celery
  • 90 g pore
  • 20 g butter
  • 1 PL olive oil
  • 1,5 l water
  • 3 Art salt
  • 1 a loaf of bread bread
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 30 g thyme
  • 1 onion
  • ground black pepper
  • celery leaves

Approach:

  • Peel and finely chop the onion. Celery and leek are also finely chopped. Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes.
  • Add oil and butter to the pot. Add onion and garlic to the melted butter.
  • Simmer for a while and add leek, celery and simmer again for a while. Then add half of the thyme and mix. Fry for a while until they start to stick to the bottom of the pot. This is how a strong taste and aroma is created.
  • Cover with broth or water and cook until the potatoes are soft. Season with salt and black pepper. Then we add thyme, celery leaves and finally spinach. Cook for about 2 minutes and put in a blender and blend until smooth.
  • If you want a fine consistency, strain through a sieve. You can add a little whipped cream to soften it.
  • Allow the soup to cool slightly. In the meantime, we will prepare the bread. We cut off the top of the bread to create the so-called lid. Then we cut out the inside of the bread. Cut the inside of the bread into smaller pieces and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Drizzle with olive oil and add thyme and mix. Bake in an oven heated to 180°C for about 10 minutes.
  • Pour the cooled soup into the bread, decorate with drops of olive oil and a little whipped cream. Then add spinach leaves and baked croutons and serve. Bon appetite!
